Friends Forever ..... ????

Almost daily i get around 10+ mails in my inbox on FRIENDSHIP.Some saying friends are everything to reiterating the old adage that a FRIEND IN NEED IS FRIEND INDEED.Well let's put some practical thought to it,how much of it actually holds good in today's world.Are we surrounded by freinds who can lay down their life for you or is it just a prejudice that we grow up with ??.I am afraid that the later holds a stronger position.I remember during my engineering days i was surrounded by some of the most fantastic(seemingly)people i had ever come across.When we were parting at the end of fourth year at college,we friends famously vowed to stand by each other in times of trouble and joy.We promised that we guys would meet atleast once a month.Now after more than a year of passing out when i look back i rather mock at the tall promises we once made.

Well as of today,i haven't seen or talked to my friends for maybe almost 8 months.Let aside meeting and hanging out,even a casual hello over the telephone seems like a far fetched dream.During college days we used swamp Yahoo chat rooms with over 5 people chatting after 9'o clock at night dsicussing everything from Osama Bin Laden to Mallika Sherawat,today we don't even say Hey !!!.Initially i took the initiative and said a casual Hey !! but the cold Hello !!!that i received from my freinds has put me on a back foot,today i am hesitant to take another initiative.When in college i remember going to Dombivali during each of those short term vacation that we used to get after every semester and my Dombivali friends eagerly awaited my arrival,today they give me lame excuses for not being there.Recently one of my friends moved out of a telecommunication job and wanted to make a transit to IT job,he asked me for help,i did help him,i couldn't help him beyond a limit and so today he even doesn't say hello to me.Well is that how we define friendship,sticking around with someone just to quench the greedy thirst.Is friendship a use and throw material ??.Do the phrases "Friends For Life" still hold good in today's world ??.

My dad always said that no friend is going to help you when you are in trouble,i dismissed his views back then,today,maybe his views were right and i should have listened to him.

Well some friends do stick on. Melvin, Ellie, Shridhar Parkar, Aniket, Gaurav, Pavan, Vaibhav, Nikhil, Kedar, Namita, Priyanka,Priya,Jijo,Anu,Neha,Savita are selected few who have been with me through thick and thin,i can only hope that they don't change as the world moves on.Surprisingly some of my mere acquaitance at college like Nitesh and Dadasaheb have managed to pen down a respectful Hello.

Finally,i sincerely hope that i don't change so as to find my names in the Blacklist of some Mr/Ms. X.
